Besore

Cornish Lithium are exploring for lithium contained within naturally circulating geothermal waters a site near Besore.

Cornish Lithium has identified the Besore area as somewhere with potential for hosting lithium within naturally occurring circulating geothermal waters. Temporary permission for exploration drilling to test this potential has been granted by the Mineral Planning Authority at Cornwall Council via a General Permitted Development Order (decision date: 28/08/24). The application and pre-work surveys for this can be viewed online on the Council planning register (planning.cornwall.gov.uk) with the planning reference PA24/05731. Drilling is expected to start from late October.

This exploration project will involve drilling two boreholes to around 1km depth, with each borehole approximately 10cm in diameter, using a drill rig used at previous exploration sites. Drilling of the boreholes will only occur during the daytime between the hours of 0700 – 1900, rather than on a 24 hour basis. Ancillary works for the project will be permitted between 0700 – 2200, but only Monday to Friday. To complete the project within the 6 month timeline approved by the Mineral Planning Authority both boreholes will be drilled concurrently within the drilling hours set above.
