Copper House
Cornish Lithium is proposing to drill an exploration borehole for lithium in geothermal waters at a site near Copper House, Gwennap. Further information will be shared soon, ahead of the planning consent submission.
Project
A pilot-scale lithium extraction plant has been constructed at the Cornish Lithium United Downs site. The pilot plant is to demonstrate that lithium hydroxide, a key component of lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles, can be produced in Cornwall from naturally occurring geothermal waters with a net zero carbon footprint. Domestic production of this critical metal is vital for the UK to deliver its zero carbon targets, clean growth ambitions and sustain and grow the vehicle manufacturing sector.
