Frequently asked questions
The Baldhu area, near Truro, was chosen as a promising site to explore for lithium in geothermal waters after reviewing historic mining data for the area, 3D modelling and intensive desk studies. The project will help us gain an informed understanding of the sub-surface and provide data to support the nearby Cross Lanes project.
The proposed project involves exploration drilling of a single 10cm diameter borehole to intercept lithium-rich geothermal waters at depths of around 2,000 metres.
Temporary permission under a General Permitted Development Order will be applied for from the Mineral Planning Authority at Cornwall Council. The landowner and mineral rights owner will also provide agreements for this work.
