Exploring the potential
of lithium in geothermal
waters
The deep underground waters at Besore near Threemilestone, Truro, have been identified as having potential for lithium extraction. Consequently, exploration drilling and water testing were conducted at the site from November 2024. Test work will be completed by April 2025, followed by data analysis and a decision on next steps from that point onward.

The Besore area near Threemilstone, Truro was chosen as a promising site to explore for lithium in geothermal waters after reviewing historic mining data for the area, 3D modelling and intensive desk studies.
Following permissions, preparation at this site for the arrival of the drill rigs began in September 2024. Exploration drilling of both boreholes began at this site in November 2024.
With the drilling of both boreholes, rock core will be analysed and testing of the geothermal waters intercepted in permeable structures will take place. The exploration project is a temporary 6-month project which will complete in April 2025.
The results of the exploration project at Besore will be shared with the local community and online at the end of the project. Analysis of the results will take place after the end of the project.
